Are You Too Available?

Are you the type that is readily available to help others  - even at the expense of your own priorities? While it is necessary for us to practice flexibility in adjusting our schedule to be of assistance to others but where do we draw the line? That is where wisdom comes in. The character quality of availability requires wisdom to balance its response else it may lead to personal burnout and discouragement. Check out a BFM radio interview I did on this subject:

The Character of Alertness

What does it mean to be demonstrating the character quality of alertness? How does this trait affect your performance and contribution to the team? Check out the BFM radio interview as part of the series "Performance by Character".

How is your Character Quotient?

You have heard it before - IQ and EQ. What about CQ - Character Quotient? The many complaints which I hear from leaders today is not a lack of skills, rather it is a lack of character. Skills can be developed quickly if the character rests on a strong foundation.

Here's a radio interview I did on BFM a number of years ago the need for character:

The Myth of Executive Presence

So much of what constitutes leadership today centres too much on the individual’s personality that the organisation culture is in danger of being a personality-driven culture rather than being purpose-driven. The danger of having too much executive force is that employees then will be lulled into a “you-tell-me-what-to-do” culture that eventually stifles creativity, innovation and engagement.

Here's the BFM interview I did last week which covers the topic that "Executive Presence" is not a focus on self it is actually something more. You need more than charisma and personality for executive presence. Listen on .. the answers are more fundamental than you think!

The Strengths Movement in Malaysia

4 Oct 2017 - This is a pivotal moment in the Strengths movement here in Malaysia as Gallup plans to launch the first ever ASCC (Accelerated Strengths Coaching Certification) program here in Kuala Lumpur! After about 4 years since my certification experience in Singapore, there is now a momentum to follow-through with building a team of strengths-based coaches here in Malaysia. I dare say that I am now more excited about strengths coaching than I was four years ago!

Look forward to working with Satvinder, the Strengths Ambassador from Gallup!

Here's a trip down memory lane in 2013 when I was interviewed by Jim Collison soon after attending the first-ever ASCC for Asia:
